- St Stephen's day. It is an old custom for small boys to go around with the wren gathering money. The rhyme they say is:-
The wren, the wren,
The king of all birds,
On St. Stephen's day he was caught in the furze,
Up with the kittle and down with the pan,
And give us some money to bury the wren.
St Brigid's day:-
A small cross is made in rememberance of the cross of rushes St. Brigid made.
Young girls go around gathering money with an old doll called the "Brigeóigín".
Chalk Sunday
The Sunday after Shrove Tueaday.
