  1. The nearest fairy fort to this school is at the bridge of Balrothery know as Madden's moat. It is a mound of earth about 30 feet high. No one remembers it been made so it must be very old. Although the field in which it is situated was ploughed the moat was never ploughed as it would be considered unlucky as fairies are supposed to live in the moat. There is a mound or moat on Mr. Grime's land near the reservoir. Many people say they saw a light around this moat and it is known locally as Tulley's light.
