   A Song The Rush people were not allowed to take seaweed from the Skerries shore. Lord Holmpatrick was owner of Shionnac Island and he would not let them take wore off the island either. But some of the Rush farmers broke down the wall which prevented them from taking the seaweed from the island and took the seaweed. Most of them were put in prison. An old woman named Mrs Mac Parklen who was then living in Rush composed a song. These are some of the verses:- "Pull down this pier", the gentle Lamb did say, I fear this deed is out of date, I cannot find the key, They gathered in a body strong to act to this man's wish, And the strongest proof they had
