- (continued from previous page)black man appeared to him and asked him what was wrong and Peter said he could not get across the river. Then the man told him to get on his back and he did so and the man walked straight through the river and left Peter at the end of the road. Then he left him down and Peter asked him who he was and the man said he was a friend of his great grandfather who was taken away by the fairies. He also told Peter to ask no more. Then the man vanished.
