- A Culdaff man named James Green was a poet of some note. He died a few years ago and is buried Bocan Church Chuldaff. He never attended a day school. The little education he had he received at an evening school a winters in his own parish. He was indeed a self taught man. He wrote many poems. The following is an admired one - Sweet Inis Eoghain
Sweet Inis Eoghain
Sweet Inis Eoghain you are renowned in story
? silvery brooks and your rippling rills
? St Patrick's time were Owen's glory
? while life remains I will love thee stillSlieve Sneacht Iween is your highest mountain
A cap of snow its head doth crown
Cruck-na-nonian has crystal fountains
That to the Foyle goes a dashing down.Round the Meentagh Lough and the Lake of Shadows
? spirit lingers to pause a while
? Culdaff you have emerald meadows
? emerald singers the time beguileMalin Glen and Strabrega's waters
