About forty years ago the making of candles was very common in the village of Bunnatubber. This is how the people made the candles.
They melted lard in a pan and they dipped them in the lard. They then let them cool and when they were sufficiently cold they used them instead of lamps.
They were also able to make baskets. This is the way they used to make them.
They used to boil sally rods in a pot of water and then they used to peel the skin off them and weave them into a basket.
Those baskets were used for different purposes. Some of them were used for carrying potatoes while others were used for carrying turf.
