- In this district people used make their own toys in times gone by and with them they used play games.
One was "Teetotal." A spool was pointed at one end and a stick driven through the centre of it to act as a handle. Four sides were cut into the spool to make it square; on each side a letter was printed -- P. T. N. A. "P" meant "Put down," "T," "take up," "N" meant "none" and "A" all. One boy would then spin the "Teetotal." If "P" were upturned he would put down a coin, another boy would then spin it and if "T" were up he would take the coin. If "N" were up, he would take nothing, and if "A" turned up he would take all the money.
Boys used also engage in what they called "Spear throwing." The would pare an ash stick into the shape of a spear, and stick feathers in the end of it. Then they would stand about twenty yards away from loop which was made out of a thin sally rod and which(continues on next page)- Informant
