It is customary to gather turf, sticks and bones, and lightin a big "bonfire" at almost every crossroads. The Boys gather round it chatting and laughing and telling stories.
Before dispersing, the fire is scattered and Old People say that each one should bring home a coal or cinder and throw it into their garden.November's Eve "Halloween"
"A cake with a "ring"
or "Cally" (colcannon) with a "ring"
in it is supposed to bring "marriage" in its finding to the finder.- Collector
