    The game was first played between two teams of twenty-one a-side. There was no particular position on the fie;d at that time. Every one tried to be where the ball hopped. There were goal posts and a point posts at that time.
    A point was scored anywhere inside the two outer posts, but the points scored directly between the goal posts should be so high as to be out of reach of the goal keeper. There was no cross bar, and anything considered within the goal keeper's reach was counted a goal.
    At that time, one could take down an opponent any way he was able, the only exception being tripping and for this he was penalised, and a free kick was awarded against him. Very often, more active measures were taken by the aggrieved party when
