A cross was made on every cake. The cross was put on it to make it rise. The bread used to be baked in a oven and sometimes a griddle or a pan. Griddle bread was made in olden times with oaten meal. - Boxty bread was eaten long ago. This is how it was made. There were hools put in a piece tin and then potatoes were got and pealed and the tin was rubed on them and they were made fine. They were mixed with flour salt soda and milk. Then it was put down to bake in a oven. There was another cake made called potatoe cake. The potatoes were boiled and pealed and put into a wooden vessel called a(continues on next page)
