A certain man once went for a cure to a wise old woman, whose name was Biddy Early. She lived near Feacle in County Clare, and people said that she posessed magical powers.
She asked the man what kind of windows were in his house, he said they were straw-mats. She told him to go home, and put in glass windows, because the straw-mats were the cause of his trouble, as the fairies had power over them. He did so, and was cured.
