    some days following. If there is a rainbow on Saturday night it means a fine week to come.
    3. Wind.
    When the wind is blowing from Anaghmore direction which is northwards from our village very cold weather and snow is expected. But when it blows from Castleblakney direction which is South eastwards from us, rain is sure to follow. The South and South Westerly winds bring most rain to my district.
    Storm.
    The sky becomes very dark when a storm is approaching. the wind howls round the house, then the rain falls heavily and the storm begins to abate.
    4. Birds and animals as weather omens.
    (a) If for the first time after their arrival from Africa in Springlawn you see only one swallow it indicates a bad Summer but if you see two or more together it indicates fine weather during Summer.
    (b) If the seagulls fly inland or the swallows fly low it indicates rain.
    (c) If the cuckoo is heard before the hawthorn blossoms it indicates a bad Summer.
    (d) When the dog eats grass or the cat scrapes the door it indicates rain.
    (e) If there is going to be a big shower all the hens
