The table which was in use long ago was not at all like the table which is used at the present day. It was called a skib. It was made from rods which they peeled and boiled before making up. When they were about to eat a pot was taken out in the centre of the floor and the skib was placed on top of it. Then everyone sat or went on their knees round it. The old people called the pot with the skib placed over it "round table ? agus tablecloth slait"- Collector
