- Marriages generally take place before Lent or Advent. Saturdays and Fridays are thought unlucky for marriages.
Matches are made in some parts of my district. Money is given as dowry at marriages. Stock is seldom given now-a-days. The people do not remember marriages taking place in houses in my district.
