- Laughta is the name of my home district. It is in the Parish of Rossinver and the Barony of Rossclogher. There are eighteen families and about eighty-five people in Laughta.
Mc Gowan is the family name most common.
Most of the houses are slated.
Laughta got its name in olden times, because there were so many graves in it. The word itself means the place of graves.
There are five people over seventy in Laughta. Two of them can tell stories in English.
The houses are more numerous now, than long ago. There are no ruins. No one emigrated to America this sixteen years.
Laughta is not mentioned in poems, songs, nor verses.
Most of the land in Laughta is hilly and boggy.
There are a lot of streams in Laughta, but there are no rivers or lakes.- Collector
