- Boxty was made by grating raw potatoes, wringing the water off them, mixing them with flour and frying them on the pan.
Plenty of butter was eaten with it.
Oatmeal bannocks were made by mixing oatmeal with boiling water. They were placed standing before the fire until they were as hard as a bone. These were found to be very sustaining. - The house was built of stone and mortar, they were thatched(continues on next page)
