- (continued from previous page)they put the rush candle when it was lighted. When one candle was burned they put in another.Soon they found out another way of making candles. These candles were made of resin which they had to buy when they wanted it. First of all they melted the resin in a vessel called grissit then they got a piece of cloth and twisted it to make a wick. They put the resin around the wick and they shaped it like an ordinary candle. These candles used to burn longer than the rush candles.
