  1. Food. 10th June 1938.
People used to eat only three meals
a day in olden times, and they consisted of
oat-bread and milk in the morning, potatoes
and butter-milk for their dinner, and porridge
    and "bull's-milk" for their supper.
    "Bulls-milk" was made from oat-meal
and water. A quantity of oat-meal was
put into a can of cold clean water. This
was left aside for a day or two, then
the water was drained off, and was
a nice white milk for eating with porridge.
The milk had a sour taste and was
    very healthy for using.
Before the men ate their breakfast
they used to clean out the byres, feed calves,
and other animals about the farm, and milk
the cows. Then they had their breakfast
at about ten o 'clock, and went out
to the fields to work. They used to eat
their dinner at four o' clock and
    their supper at night.
