- I often saw a lime kiln. The way the lime is burned is first the lime stones are taken out of the rock and the stones are broken like paving stones. Then the stones are put into the kiln. The lime kiln is of a round shapes and there is a big hole on the bottom of the kiln. The first is under the stones. It takes it three hours to burn. Then it is drawn from the kiln and is then ready for use.
