- In the parish of Knockanure and in a field owned by Edmond Mulvihill there is a fort, and it is said that in ancient times that it was one of the strong-holds of the Danes. The field near it got its name from the fort and ever since it is known as the "Fort field".There is also a farm near by Corridon and in this farm there is a field called the gairdín. In days gone by the poor of the parish had gardens there which they paid for by giving so many day's work to the owner. It got its name ever since "The gairdíní".
