Of this monastery were used in building the Longford Cathedral which bears his name. St. Mel was St Patrick’s nephew, and it was he who gave the veil to St Brigid.
    St. Lasar:-
The patron saint of Keadue. He is supposed to have built a beautiful church in one night. The ruins of his monastery are still to be seen and today a beautifully constructed arch marks the entrance.
