    candles and each person in the house to mark a candle and whichever candle quenched first the person that had that candle marked was supposed to die first. The Rosary was generally recited while the candles were burning.
    On May Ever it is a custom to gather May Flowers and strew them around the doors to keep away all the bad luck throughout the year. It is said that if you wash yourself in the dew on May morning you will not get sunburst that year. If you give away milk after sunset on May Eve it is said you will have no butter that year.
