    gold the following Monday morning, and indeed he surely kept his promise. He got on Monday morning at about seven o'clock, as he was always a very early riser, as the old say, and the first thing he started in the morning was to gather all the tools he would want to get to the bottom of the big tree. It was nearly dinner time before he had started to go, and he then set off with a big bag of tools upon his back.
    Everyone in the whole place was wondering at him, and thought he was mad, but he didn't mind that, he used to say I'll surprise you all some day when I'll come home with my pot of gold. It took him almost the whole year to get the tree down, never talking about digging to the bottom of it.
