    Each lovely scene was quite serene
    On Lough Rynn's Woody Shore.
    A gentle breeze passed thro' the trees,
    That murmured clear a song
    And the band did play a stirring lay
    To cheer the passing throng
    Amidst the scene, one of our boys
    Sank, sank, to rise no more,
    Which brought a gloom as from the tomb
    On Lough Rynn's Woody Shore.
    The lad who lost his precious life
    Was scarcely nineteen years,
    His father came unto the scene
    His eyes were dim with tears
    That saddening sight
    I'll ne'er forget,
    It pierced my very core
