priest Father McGuire known in song as "The Star of Eirn" was betrayed and poisioned. Bishop Mac Sweeney was the only Bishop in all Eirn during the greater part of Penal days. He spent years around Sliab an Eirn in County Leitrim. Breefni was the home of many of the poor out-laws in Penal times.
God Rest O'Connell the liberatior the Penal days are gone so is Bess and Cromwell. The poor Irish priests and people who fought the good fight and won are gone to reap their reward. The fire of Patrick blazing brighter than ever lliuminates Eirn from shore to shore and there is not a land from pole to pole into which a "cunleen" from this sacrficed fire has not found its way.
