When the Sheriff came with his mighty power
and expelled each tenant from his own dear land
He came again with his oil and matches, with his
bombs and bayonets and all outcast men,
And without hesitation fear or mercy to burn all those houses he did begin.
The cries and sobs of those widows and orphans
When they saw their homesteads all in a blaze,
It would send the heart of a human savage
