A Song - Leganomer
“Leganomer, shamrock valley,”
I
Leganomer, shamrock valley,
Once the home of happy men.
On the hillsides waved by corn,
Blithest milkmaid trod thy glen.
Calmed cotentment reigned around thee,
Peace and mirth was there galore
But thy dwellings now are roofless
Peace and mirth are there no more.
II
Leganomer, shamrock valley,
From Lough Gowna to the sea
Once no village was so happy
None so fair, so dear as thee.
In the sporing time bloomed the slow tree
O'er each green and mossy dell,
Roses blushed above the streamlets
Fairies danced around thy well.
