  1. A Song - Leganomer (continued)

    Leganomer, shamrock valley,

    (continued from previous page)
Oh, to see thee in the Spring,
    When the toilers merry convert
    Made the echoing hallows ring.
    Or when Summer's daisied mantle,
O'er thy verdant slopes was thrown.
Sweet to saunter with some loved one
    Or to meditate alone.
    IV
    Leganomer, shamrock valley,
Oft I stood at early morn
When the red rose tinged the apple
And all golden shone the corn.
And the sun rose slowly, slowly
    O'er the Carnes burnished stream
And around me lay the lowlands
Like a landscape in a dream
    V
    Leganomer, shamrock valley,
How the sight entranced my soul
    All the softness, calmness, beauty;
Brooks that glisten, waves that roll.
    Towering hills and verdant valleys
    Fertile fields and brightest skies.
    Well might angels come mistaking
    Thee for long gone Paradise.
    VI
    Leganomer, shamrock valley,
