- There was a great flood in this district about seventy one years ago. About the year 1870 a bog ran in the townland of Ahanagran, about two miles from Ballylongford, and it went out into the Atlantic Ocean.
In the month of November in the year 1869, the bog moved for the first time, about two hundred yards. In the month of February 1870 it moved for the second time. It knocked houses, and did a great amount of harm in its rush towards the sea.
