    So loyal to faith, to country, and honor,
    Thy offspring will ne'er cease mourning for thee,
    Who died for your faith in the Vale of Tralee!

    Your head on the top of the gibbet was placed,
    And never a nobler gibbet had graced,
    Your clansmen oft came the sad sight to see,
    And pray for their chief in the Vale of Tralee!

    Brave Thaddeus O'Connor, on Killarney' hillside,
    With Bishop Egan and Ferriter gloriously died,
    For Ireland, for Faith, and for sweet Liberty
    Their noble blood flowed by the Vale of Tralee.

    Thy glory and pride, O'Connor - Kerry, are past;
    But thy name and thy fame shall live on to the last;
    In old Eire's sad Annals and sweet Minstrelsy
    Enshrined are thy deeds in the Vale of Tralee.

    On Slievemish I lingered that evening in May,
    Till the cool shades of night were displacing the day,
    Gazing on mountains and woodland and lea,
    By the home of my youth near the Vale of Tralee!

    Far, far from my loved home in dear Lissereen,
