    away, you are not a son of mine". He then asked his second son would he carry the horse and he said "I will, father". He then found a good stick and drove the horse to the field. When he came to the gap to drive him in there was a spirit standing before him. He told her leave the gap but she made no answer. He jumped off the horse, and went up to her, and the horse jumped wild about the field. Then he fought, and fought hard, and after a length of time he got the best of her, and she had to leave the gap. He went and found the horse again and brought him into the field.
    He returned home and went to where he found a Prayer Book and took the oath that he would not sleep two nights in one bed or eat three meals at one table until he found something that would make him afraid. When the father saw what he did he was very sorry entirely. When he got up the following morning he got ready for to go away. The father gave him as much money as he could for the road and he was broken-hearted for what he did because he was the cause of sending him away. He wished him "good-bye" and went away. He travelled during that day, and when night came he found
