- About a hundred yards from the old Cathedral of the Diocese of Achonry is a holy well known as Tobar Finneins or Finnien's well. It is Finniens primate will and this Finnien is th great FInnien of Clonard. Large pilgrimages cvisit it on every Saturday during the month of August but can be visited only on one Saturday if wished. People walk round the well and perform stations. There is also a holy well at Dromard known as Tober Patrick. As St Patrick was travelling there he sat down to rest and the well sprung up and thats how it was formed. There is one thing very particular about the well the stream that is running from the well is going against a hill. There is a sycamore tree growing beside the well out of which another well springs and people take water out of it but no matter how much water is taken from it it never over flows or dries up. Close by the well is a rock called Patrick's rock and people go round about it and perform a station. There is supposed to be a cure(continues on next page)
