    Annaghmore with the bird and gun and overtook the Londoner before he reached Carrick-on-Shannon.
    When passing through Longford he sprained his foot and rushed for a carpenters and got a crutch made. When he was on the road again his opponent had a big odds. He 'gain passed him on the outskirts of city. On the return journey when crossing the Shannon he saw some wild ducks on the river and he hurried home to Annaghmore for the gun and went back and shot them, the other fellow had now passed. It was now going to be a gruelling finish was the thought uppermost in everybody's mind along the route, but nearing Collooney.
    The Little Red Man now came on with a great spurt and won easily on his crutch and stick. He also won for O Hara his estate and money and £100,000 from the Englishman.
