They made up their minds to go inside the house so they drew the lock and went inside and they asked if she were in any trouble or if so could they do anything for her but they got no response. So they left and closed up the door again. Some short time after one of the men coming home from rambling and passing by the place and when crossing the Stile to his great surprise something stood right before him. He retreated, blessed himself and tried again but could not cross the stile, as the person, as he thought was standing right before him. He tried the third time but failed. So he changed his way to get home but it was just the same, he could not cross the fence, everywhere he went it was standing right before him. So he retreated and went to his comrades house and called him. When admitted he fell fainted on the floor to the astonishment of his comrade and it took a long time to revive him. The comrade had to leave him home by early morning, not feeling his best after(continues on next page)
