- Local Cures
People believe in making cures of their own. They say the seventh son of a family would have the cure for ring-worm. They say that ferret's food is a cure for whooping-cough. For sore eyes people make the sing of the cross three times with a branch off the gooseberry bush. They say that water that lodges in a stone can cure a wart. Some of the people go to Knock for cures. Some more of them go to holy - wells for cures.
