- The old people say that there was an old road leading down to Thornton's Castle about one third of a mile from Castle Browne.
Middle Clash is called Clashmealcon.
This Thornton had a maol hound and then that Clash is called Clashmealcon.
This road is all covered over now and owners of the land when cultivating have found portions of the road.
