On this page
- (continued from previous page)it was taken out at midnight to Teampall Gé Thuinn by unseen hands.
This manner of burial continued until the son of a widowed mother died. She was so broken- hearted with grief that she would not leave the corpse alone. She remained there until midnight then she heard a voice saying to her:-
When mortal eye our work
shall spy
When mortal ear our dirge
shall hear
The burial of the Cantillons,
is o'er.Westward to the sunset far, underneath the evening star
Where whirls the mighty Shannon flows,
round the rocks of Kerryhead
O'er the churchyard where tis siad, the relics of the Cantillons dead were taken long ago.- Informant
