Brendan was baptised by Bishop Erc in Ardfert.
When St. Brendan was born a light was seen across the bay at Fenit and Bishop Erc said there was a great saint born, he set off next day from Keel to find the great saint that was born across the bay at Fenit.
Where the monastery was long ago the graveyard is there now, there is one tomb and a few graves there. Nowadays no body is buried there except members of the Corridon family. It is said that the Banshee is heard crying around the walls of this church before any one of them dies. If one of the Corridon family dies three of them are taken to Keel graveyard within the same year.
