- Many strong men dwelt in this place long ago, such as great high jumpers, mowers, hurlers, racers, fighters and hand-ball players. John Drury and Tom Flahive are good long jumpers. Tom Sheahan is a good mower. Owen Corridon was a great hurler. He drove a ball a quarter-mile away. He was a very strong man and he was six feet three inches in height. Patrick Godley challenged others at Ardfert and won a sliver cup. Mossey Leen is a good fighter.Tom Flahive is a good hand-ball player. Shone Burns knocked an alley with a ball. He struck it under-neath near the foundation and knocked it. John Dee was a very strong man here long ago. He could jump twice as high as himself and could race a very swift horse.
