  1. On the 5th June 1924 during the General Election campaign my wife and I were going from our home in ShanaReale to Copdal, Castleland to see her brother Maurice Prendiville. We had a son with us "Gerald" who was seven years
    We intended to leave 12 o'Clock mass in C Island and left home about 9:30 A.M.
    As we approached Moriarty's Cross which is about a mile to the north of Farranfope and about the same distance to the west of Currans the horse was trotting fairly fast and as there was a hedge of Whitethorn at the north side of the other road leading from Tralee to [?]. There was a County Council van stationary on the Tralee road and some little distance to the [?] of the Cross and beyond the van was a [?]
    All these obstacles rendered the Cross blind on the [?] side whereas there was a good view of the road leading on to Currans, and motorists were more or less inclined to go to the right and steer clear of the Currans road.
    Just as we entered the Cross a motor car crashed into the horse and my wife was hurled out of the trap and clean across the Tralee, Killarney road into the Castleland pond.
