- Before Killorglin was built, there was a village at Aunagarry Cross and one of the houses is there yet. It is occupied by Mrs. Stephen McKenna and it was a sort of hotel or inn. The name of one of the residents of the old village is carved on a stone which is still to be seen in a wall in Aunagarry.There was a battle fought between the Traolachs and the Yeomen, the Traolachs were a clan of O'Connors who were outlawed by the English and used come robbing the houses of the English. The Yeomen attacked them at Aunagarry Cross. They captured the Traolachs and rested for the night at a house which corresponds with the present house of Mount Rivers. The Traolachs escaped because a girl in the house poured water into the guns of the Yeomen, and the Traolachs(continues on next page)
