    Garland Sunday - is called "The last rose of Summer", because it is the last Sunday of Summer.
    St Martin's Day. No wheel should be turned because St. Martin was crushed to death in a mill. It is said that the Ballasodare Mills were burned on that day because they were working. Long ago it was the custom that no carts should be put on the road on St. Martin's Day.
    Twelve Days of Christmas. It is said that if these twelve days are good that the whole year would be good
    New Years' Eve. If you would spend on that day, you would spend the whole year round.
