    taken a number of the themes on which he versifies from his native parish of Calry, naturally cherishing in his exile fond memories of the scenes of his boyhood, and of the "old folks at home." He gives a full page illustration of the seminary of his youthful days with a pretty poem under the caption : - "An Irish Country School", "And I recall the schoolroom by the [mill?].
    Beneath the mountain & the sable hill -
    The desks engraved with names of boys,
    And years
    When there they spent their early school careers,
    The wooden tablets, & the infant throng
    Who rhymed their prose as if it were a song."
