    herrings, cockles, peri-winkles, fish and shell-fish mostly. Also old people lived on oaten-meal bread, boxty, and potatoe-bread and that was near all the food they used to eat. Boxty was eaten mostly at November and potatoe-bread also around the same time. The old people long ago in Lent used not eat hardly any-thing because they would fast a lot in honour of Our Lord's fast of forty days. Old people now and not long ago would fast until dinner time on Good-Friday and then some of them would only drink black-tea for the day no bread or any-thing else either.
