“One night two boys went stealing apples.”
One night two boys went stealing apples. The went into an orchard and filled a bag which they had brought with them. As they were on their way home they had to pass a grave-yard. They went into the grave-yard. As they were going in they lost two apples. They sat on a grave and began counting the apples. This is the way they counted the apples, "One for you and one for me," and so on until they had them counted. During the time they were counting the apples a man was coming from rambling and he too had to pass the grave-yard. He heard them counting the apples. He heard another man coming from rambling. He told them to come and hear God and the devil selecting the good from the bad. When they had the apples counted they thought about the two apples at the gate. They said "What about the two at the gate. The two men thought it was about themselves they were talking to they ran off as fast as they could thinking the devil was after them.- Collector
