  1. The old people had many beliefs in regard to the weather. They say that when the wind comes from the north it is a sign of cold weather and sometimes a sign of snow. Sheep and goats show remarkable signs of the weather. When the sheep and goats go far from the lowlands up the hills we can be sure of very good weather. But when they come down near the house it is a very bad sign and we can be sure of rain.
    When the weather is unsettled a great number of stars in the sky are a sign of storm or frost. A ring around the moon called a halo is a sign of bad weather.
    Dark clouds are a sign of rain. A rainbow in the morning is a sign of rain,
