   In Ballindoon in the parish of Geevagh in Country Sligo lived a famous wrestler and weight-thrower named Charlie Gilleen. This name was known all over Ireland. He used to jump over six feet which was a record at the time. He could throw the half-hundred weight twenty-nine feet without a fellow. One night a man named Thomas Mitchel from Ballycolman (who was alive up to twenty years ago) was going to Sligo with a horse-cart of oats, sixteen hundred weight. When he was going down Ballinasiamra bray, near Ballymote; the cart got stuck in a hole and he could not get it out. Charlie and Hugh Gillen came along the road and lifted the load safely to the road.
