  1. There is a number of old beliefs still in being in this parish including the following:- If a mother is going out she should place the tongs over the cradle in which the baby is sleeping so that the fairies will not steal him away.
    A child should always either wear red or have red cloth with them to keep them safe from the "destroying eye" of women or the "suil mibreanac."
    When St' Patrick's day falls on Palm Sunday Ireland will be united and partition dissolved. This is an old proverb around here.
