- Tradition says that St. Brigid used to make crosses of rushes and this custom has been practiced down to the present day.
There is a story told that when St. Brigid was a nun, a woman was very sick and she sent for St Brigid. When she reached the house there was a pile of rushes out side, and she took a bunch of them and made a lovely cross. She gave it to the woman and she told her it would cure her. So the woman was cured.- Collector
