People used to come from far and near to see the game. There was a football match played in Dea Mullen's field about thirty years ago between Emlaghfad and Carrigans.
During the course of the game an Emlaghfad played named Pat Curly locally known as "The Tailor" had a dispute with one of the Carrigans footballers named John Conlon.
